The Winter Icing and Storms Project (WISP) field studies were conducted in the Colorado Front Range area over a period of two years. The main goals of this project are to study the processes leading to the formation and depletion of supercooled liquid water in winter storms and to improve forecasts of aircraft icing.
The data presented here are from 12 March 1990 to 14 March 1990 and cover a region from the equator to 60N latitude and from 145W to 55W longitude.
Selected variables from the NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis are available here for display as GIF images, or for downloading to your local disk.
