ISCCP D1 AND DX FOR WISP FIELD CAMPAIGN

The Winter Icing and Storms Project (WISP) field studies were conducted in the Colorado Front Range area over a period of two years. The main goals of this project are to study the processes leading to the formation and depletion of supercooled liquid water in winter storms and to improve forecasts of aircraft icing.

The data presented here are from 12 March 1990 to 14 March 1990 and cover a region from the equator to 60N latitude and from 145W to 55W longitude.

Selected variables from the ISCCP D1 and DX are available here for display as GIF images, or for downloading to your local disk. If you are downloading data, please see the browse data format description. Also take note of the reference information. The full documentation for the ISCCP D1 and DX data can be found at the ISCCP D1 and DX webpage.

If you are downloading multiple files, please use the GCSS-DIME ftp site (ftp gcss-dime.giss.nasa.gov/pub/WISP). D1 or DX files obtained from the ftp site are in D1 or DX-specific formats and must be read using either dxread.f or d1read.f available at the ISCCP website

Note also that the complete ISCCP DX data is now available from the ISCCP's Official Data Archives (NOAA/NESDIS/NCDC) via anonymous ftp through ftp://eclipse.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/isccp/dx.
