A review article has been prepared by Brian Ryan and has been published in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society (vol.77, pp 53-70). The title is "On the global variation of precipitating layer clouds" and can also be ordered directly from Brian Ryan.
A review article has been prepared by Ron Stewart.
This article focusses on critical processes within extra-tropical
cyclones that affect the large scales and climate. The article
has been published in Reviews of Geophysics (vol.36, pp 245-273.) and is entitled "Midlatitude cyclonic cloud systems and their features affecting large scales and climate".
A review article on this topic is being proposed. This initiative
will consider the means through which orography affects cloud
systems in different regions and the impacts of these effects
on large scales. This article will be led by David Wratt.
Another review may be started on layering within the extra-tropical regions of the world. This article will focus on the occurrence, generation and maintenance of these layers. It will in particular also focus on the large scale and climate impacts of the layers and their distribution in connection with extra-tropical cyclones and orographic barriers. Researchers wishing to help prepare this article should contact Ron Stewart.
