ISCCP D1 AND DX FOR FRONTS 92 FIELD CAMPAIGN

The Fronts 92 field experiment took place in the Eastern North Atlantic with the objective to study the dynamics of frontal systems in the region. The data presented here are from the third Intensive Observation Period (IOP). During this period a rapidly developing cold frontal wave crossed the field experiment area.

The data presented here are from 27 April 1992 to 28 April 1992 and cover a region from 30N to 60N latitude and from 50W to 10E longitude.

Selected variables from the ISCCP D1 and DX are available here for display as GIF images, or for downloading to your local disk. If you are downloading data, please see the browse data format description. Also take note of the reference information. The full documentation for the ISCCP D1 and DX data can be found at the ISCCP D1 and DX webpage.

If you are downloading multiple files, please use the GCSS-DIME ftp site (ftp gcss-dime.giss.nasa.gov/pub/FRONTS). D1 or DX files obtained from the ftp site are in D1 or DX-specific formats and must be read using either dxread.f or d1read.f available at the ISCCP website

Note also that the complete ISCCP DX data is now available from the ISCCP's Official Data Archives (NOAA/NESDIS/NCDC) via anonymous ftp through ftp://eclipse.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/isccp/dx.
